Parkbench is a collection of software that assists with the securing and monitoring of a server. It is intended to be used with a SecureDrop instance but can be used with any server you wish to make secure. Parkbench software monitors a server closet for an intruder and notifies administrators via encrypted e-mail when one is detected. It also has software to notify administrators if a server is not available.
Our Parkbench software can be found on our GitHub organization page.
These programs are designed to work on Ubuntu Linux, the same Linux distribution that SecureDrop uses. These programs are still in development and may not be production-ready.
Parkbench is not affiliated with SecureDrop or the Freedom of the Press Foundation.
We'd like to thank to the now defunct CivicLab and it former operators, Benjamin Sugar and Tom Tresser. CivicLab provided some early support for our project by providing regular meeting and storage space.
Mr. Tresser is an especially vocal community activist. As a thank you to him, we would like to bring your attention to his book, Chicago Is Not Broke.
We'd also like to thank Claire Manthey for developing this website.
